DMD Data Systems, Inc. today was named 2010 Overall Small Business of the Year at the annual Commerce Lexington Salute to Small Business awards luncheon. As the top award recipient, DMD was selected from eight category winners, all of which were honored at the program.

DMD founder and president Dave Sevigny said the award is a result of an innovative approach and a great team.

“Our business is built on the principle of shared ownership. An engaged and incentivized team can accomplish a great deal, as our service record and rapid growth indicate,” Sevigny said. “We’re honored to be recognized in this way and applaud all the award winners.”

DMD Data Systems was founded in 1996 and has offices in the Lexington, Louisville and Frankfort areas. The computer hardware and software company provides its customers with quality IT infrastructures through architectural design, installation and service. They specialize in consolidation technologies and ensuring business continuity to help medium and large businesses perform better. The company has a strong presence in education systems across the state and many state and local government offices.

DMD’s service excellence, an employee-friendly business model, and corporate social responsibility practices have contributed to exceptional revenue growth that has twice landed it on the Inc. 5000 list of fastest-growing private companies and on the Computer Reseller News (CRN) Fast Growth 100 list three times.

In addition, DMD Data Systems established the Commonwealth of Kentucky Technology Innovation Center (CoKTIC) in 2009. The multi-million dollar hardware and software platform and facility in Frankfort enables businesses to access the most current and relevant technologies in a risk-free environment. It’s is the only one of its kind in the state.

The Bluegrass Small Business Development Center will submit DMD Data Systems for state and national recognition through the U.S. Small Business Administration.
